Deputy Chief of Mission
Mrs. Pattrawan Vechasart
Mrs. Pattrawan Vechasart began her tenure as the Deputy Chief of Mission since March 2016. Mrs. Vechasart brings an extensive knowledge of Thai-U.S. Relations to her current assignment, having served twice in the United States – first, as the Consul overseeing the legal and economic sections at the Royal Thai Consulate General in Los Angeles from 1994-1998, and again from 2007-2011 as Minister Counsellor at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. Prior to her third posting in the U.S., she was also the Deputy Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs from 2012-2016.
Her other previous assignments include Director of the South Pacific Division (2011-2012); Director of the Division of Economic Information (2006-2007); and Counsellor of the Division of Economic Relations and Cooperation, and the Division of International Economic Policy, Department of Economic Affairs (1998-2006). Over the course of her career, she has been involved with the negotiations of many free trade agreements between Thailand and foreign countries.
Mrs. Vechasart earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from Thammasat University, one of the top universities in Thailand, and Master’s degree in Public and International Relations with a major in Economic and Social Development from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
