On 28 January 2005, Thailand commenced its two-day Ministerial Meeting on Regional Cooperation on Tsunami Early Warning Arrangements in Phuket, Thailand. H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra delivered the Opening Statement at the Opening Ceremony.

On 19 January 2005, Mr. Takuji Motooka, Vice President of Itochu International called upon the Ambassador and donated funds for tsunami victims on behalf of the company.

On 16 January 2005, Thai American Foundations of America Inc. in the cooperation with the Royal Thai Embassy organized the concert to raise funds for the tsunami relief effort featuring Maleewan Jemina, a Thai femail singging star. On 12 January 2005, Mr.Ricky Martin, the world-famous Latin singer and the President of the Ricky Martin Foundation, called on Dr.Surakiart Sathirathai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on the occasion of his visit to Thailand to learn about the effects of Tsunami, especially its impact on children.

News Update (1 January 2005) The Royal Thai Police has set up DNA Identification Centers to facilitate the identification of deceased or missing persons from the earthquake/tsunami disaster. In this connection, any persons wishing to leave their DNA samples at the said centers in order to facilitate the tracing of their relatives are advised to contact the Centers at following locations:
