Special run for special cause: 2015 Special Olympics Torch Run for LA World Games

To celebrate the spirit of the athletes and the humanity that connects us, the Royal Thai Embassy joins hand with the Bower Group Asia (BGA) in support of the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles by participating and cheering the BGA’s segment of the Torch Run, just a block away from the White House, in the morning of 26 May 2015 – enjoying a good cause and demonstrating a friendly spirits of the Thais.
With 7,000 athletes and 3,000 coaches representing 177 countries, including Thailand, along with 30,000 volunteers and an anticipated 500,000 spectators, the 2015 Special Olympics World Games – being staged in Los Angeles from 25 July to 2 August 2015 – will be the largest sports and humanitarian event anywhere in the world in 2015, and the single biggest event in Los Angeles since 1984 Olympic Games.
The Special Olympics World Games are international sporting competitions for athletes with intellectual disabilities, organized by the Special Olympics, located in Washington, D.C. The first Special Olympics World Games were held in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A, in 1968.
