Ambassador receives new U.S. Ambassador to Thailand and discusses ways to further strengthen Thai-U.S. ties

On August 20th 2015, Ambassador Pisan Manawapat received Ambassador Glyn Townsend Davies, the new U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. Ambassador Pisan warmly congratulated Ambassador Davies for his appointment as the new U.S. Ambassador to Thailand. They discussed bilateral relationship and friendship between Thailand and the U.S. which has spanned over 182 years and has played a pivotal role for the Asia-Pacific region. Ambassador Davies, a highly experienced career diplomat, expressed his readiness to listen to and work with all stakeholders in Thailand to further strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Pisan has accepted the invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Ambassador Davies at the Department of State in the first half of September and the latter hopes to be able to take up his assignment in Bangkok around the second half of September.
