Monday 07 September, 2015Bangkok, 7 September, 2015 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) staged a series of strategic promotion and marketing activity during 30 August to 2 September, 2015, to reassure confidence in the kingdom as a top tourist destination among potential travellers in the two Chinese cities of Hangzhou and Chengdu.
H.E. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, graciously presided over the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) China Road Show in Hangzhou and Chengdu on 31 August and 2 September, 2015, respectively. She headed the Thai delegation to meet with local tour operators and media to reassure Thailand as a safe and top wish-list outbound destination in Southeast Asia among Chinese travellers.
She said, “During my visit to Hangzhou and Chengdu, I’m really touched and very proud to realise that Chinese people do love Thai people, and I’d like to state that Thai people likewise love Chinese people. I’d like to assure all Chinese people that the Thai government will exercise every possible measure to ensure safety and security for Chinese tourists while travelling in Thailand.”
The second ATTA China Road Show in Hangzhou and Chengdu connected more than 100 Thai tourism operators with over 1,000 Chinese travel agents and tour operators, allowing them the opportunities to discuss prospect business deals and to provide updates on the current tourism situation in Thailand.
Prior to the ATTA China Road Show, the TAT Chengdu Office hosted the ‘Discover the Different Thailand’ evening reception, which gathered up top 10 Chinese travel bloggers, who had been voted earlier via personal computer and mobile application, to share their experiences in Thailand. The offline and online activity gained more than 3 million page views during 11 August – 7 September, 2015.
