Thailand Pavilion at Milan World Expo 2015 welcomed 2.3 million visitors through the 6-month period that ended on October 31, according to the Agriculture Ministry.

Agriculture Minister Chatchai Sarikulya was pleased that the pavilion attracted over 10 per cent of 21.5 million visitors who showed up at the world’s largest fair.

Thailand Pavilion was voted one of the top 5, along with those of the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, he said.

“We achieved the goal in promoting Thailand’s strengths in agriculture, with standard food processing technology that entitled us to be the kitchen of the world,” he said.

The number of visitors is slightly above the ministry’s target of 2 million.

A survey covering 4,000 visitors showed that 92 per cent of the visitors were the most satisfied with the pavilion’s architectural design. The pavilion is shaped as a ngob, or Thai farmer’s hat, to highlight Thailand’s strengths in agriculture.
