Secretary-General of Thailand’s Civil Service Commission visits the United States

On 9 December 2015, Ambassador Pisan Manawapat and Madam hosted a dinner in honor of Mr. Visoot Prasitsiriwongse, Secretary-General of the Civil Service Commission of Thailand and delegation, with heads of the Thai Offices in Washington, D.C. also in attendance.
The Secretary-General visited the U.S. on 5 – 10 December 2015 to discuss with the Office of Educational Affairs in Washington, D.C. on the well-being of Thai scholarship students in the U.S. He also exchanged views with Ambassador Pisan and heads of the Thai Offices in Washington, D.C. on how Thai students in the U.S. can contribute to Thailand’s development and the Thai – U.S. relations.
According to the Institute of International Education (IIE)’s data, there are 7,217 Thai students in the U.S. in the 2014/2015 academic year. The U.S. Department of Commerce states that last year, Thai students in U.S. colleges and universities contributed 248 million USD to the U.S. economy. (Source: IIE’s Open Doors Report 2015)
