Young Thai-American Science Ambassador Program 2016 provides opportunities for Thai American students to gain firsthand exposure to Thailand’s science and technology, and to develop their leadership potential in the realm of international science and technology

Office of Science and Technology, Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C. initiate “Young Thai-American Science Ambassador Program 2016 which provides opportunities to Thai-American youth to visit diverse government and private science and technology agencies in Thailand and meet leadership team, scientists, and researchers of each agency to learn about their role and responsibilities in enhancing Thailand’s competitiveness in science a technology and science-driven world. The program is for Thai-American high-school students who aim to pursue higher education and career in science and technology. Besides professional experience for program participants, the program would benefit Thailand and USA by promoting understanding of Thailand’s science and technology among second-generation Thais who potentially join U.S. scientific community in the future.

 

Young Thai-American Science Ambassador Program 2016 sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Thailand, will provide the opportunity for 5 Thai American students to travel to Thailand during January 23 – February 4, 2016 to visit science and technology agencies and sites to meet with Thai policy makers, scientists, and researcher to gain insight perspective from professionals as well as to gain firsthand experiences from visiting laboratories and museums in Bangkok and other provinces. Moreover, they would learn about science through interactive and hands-on science activities in science camp. During weekend, they would explore landmarks and historic in Thailand’s capital and other provinces to learn about Thai culture and society.

 

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Current high-school students at a U.S. school
  • Strong interest in science and technology
  • Thai U.S. citizen or green card holder (A person born of a father or mother of Thai nationality)
  • Age of 15 – 20 year
  • Leadership ability and good interpersonal skills

 Expenes

Office of Science and Technology, Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. are responsible for a round-trip flight tickets between USA – Thailand, and all expenses in Thailand including local traveling, accommodation, food, and activities as identified in the program agenda. Students and parents are responsible for personal expenses.

  • Letter of consent for travel of a minor child form
  • A copy of most recent transcript
  • A copy of ID, passport, green card, or other official document as proof of US Citizenship or green card holder
  • A copy of parent’s ID, passport or any official document as proof of Thai citizenship of the candidate’s parent (s)

Selection

Applicants who follow application instruction and meet deadline will be considered on applicant’s accomplishments and ability to succeed in an academic, especially in science and technology fields (for example, has high GPA in science subjects, has taken additional science courses, has demonstrated the ability to lead and be responsible, etc.)
