On April 12, 2016 Ambassador Pisan Manawapat hosted lunch in honor of the new Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Southeast Asia, W. Patrick Murphy, and welcomed him back to Washington after completing his tour of duty in Bangkok.
Full teams from both the Office of Mainland Southeast Asia of the State Department and the Thai Embassy in Washington joined the lunch.
Both sides discussed a broad range of issues of common interest and exchanged views on ways to further strengthen the alliance and partnership between Thailand and the United States to address common challenges.
Ambassador Pisan extended his best wishes for the Songkran New Year to Deputy Assistant Secretary Murphy and his team.
