เมื่อวันที่ 18 ตุลาคม 2559 นายโจ ไบเดน รองประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐฯ ร่วมลงนามถวายความอาลัย พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช มหิตลาธิเบศรรามาธิบดี จักรีนฤบดินทร สยามมินทราธิราช บรมนาถบพิตร ในนามของประธานาธิบดีโอบามาและประชาชนอเมริกัน ที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูต กรุงวอชิงตัน ดี.ซี.

 

 

รองประธานาธิบดีไบเดนแสดงความเสียใจอย่างสุดซึ้งต่อเจ้าหน้าที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ และย้ำถึงมิตรภาพอันใกล้ชิดและยาวนานระหว่างสหรัฐฯ และประเทศไทย
