On 18 October 2016, the Honorable Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States of America came to sign the book of condolences for the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on behalf of President Barack Obama and the American people at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Vice President Biden expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the Embassy’s officials and stressed the close and long-standing friendship between the United States and Thailand.

His message reads;

“On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I offer my deepest condolences to the Thai people and the Royal Family on the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

In seven decades, His Majesty the King strengthened the friendship between our two nations. He was a tireless advocate for the Thai people and a valued ally of the United States.

His legacy of leadership and compassion will continue to be remembered and honored around the world.
