On 27 October 2016, the Moradokmai (New Heritage) theatre troupe performed a play “A Journey Back Home to Follow in His Majesty’s Footsteps” at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. in remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The play, which featured Thai musical instruments, was directed by Janaprakal Chandruang (Kru Chang), a famous playwright, actor and director who has devoted himself to the cause of community development through dramatic arts, and Pobchan Leelasartsuntorn, the Moradokmai head teacher.

The story follows the life of the main character named Yok – a boy from Kalasin Province of Thailand who had to follow his father, a construction worker, from place to place around the country. Inspired by His Majesty, he persevered in doing good deeds and later became a successful scientist.
