Thai Ambassador visits Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, Honolulu
On December 13, 2016, Ambassador Pisan Manawapat visited the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (APCSS) in Honolulu, Hawaii, to exchange views about cooperation between the Center and Thailand.
The APCSS, an institute under the U.S. Department of Defense, has been a premier center for training and networking of military and civilian officials from the United States and countries across the Asia-Pacific. There are currently more than 350 alumni of the Center from Thailand, both from the Foreign Service and Defense agencies.
During the visit, Ambassador Pisan had a discussion with Major General James Hartsell, Director of the APCSS, and other executives and faculties of the Center. The discussion covered a broad range of issues of mutual interest, such as the future Thai-U.S. relations and ways to strengthen bilateral military relations. Both sides also discussed the importance of strengthening national capacities and regional networking in the areas of maritime security and maritime domain awareness, and countering violent extremism.
