Ambassador Pisan meets Congressman Ted Yoho, Chairman of House Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific; agree to strengthen Thai-US alliance and economic partnership

On February 28, 2017 Ambassador Pisan Manawapat met with Congressman Ted Yoho (Republican-Florida), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific of the U.S. House of Representatives; and agreed to work closely together to strengthen the Thai-U.S. alliance and economic partnership.

Both sides discussed with appreciation the long-standing friendship and alliance between Thailand and the United States, and were optimistic about many potentials for closer partnerships on a wide range of areas of common interest.

Both sides acknowledged that, throughout many decades, the alliance between Thailand and the United States has played a pivotal role in maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region. They believed that this close strategic collaboration would be even more important in the years to come.

Ambassador Pisan also informed Chairman Yoho about the key role that Thailand, as the birthplace and a founding member of ASEAN, has played in advancing ASEAN agenda since its inception. He reaffirmed Thailand’s support for closer partnership between ASEAN and the United States. Chairman Yoho welcomed the important role of Thailand in ASEAN and Thailand’s support for stronger ties between ASEAN and the United States.

Ambassador Pisan and Chairman Yoho agreed to work closely together to promote strong 2-way trade and investment partnership between Thailand and the United States, which would benefit the peoples of both countries.
