Ambassador Pisan and Congressman Joaquin Castro to strengthen US-ASEAN and US-Thailand relations
Ambassador Pisan Manawapat met with Congressman Joaquin Castro (Democrat – Texas) to discuss the important relations between ASEAN and the U.S., and between Thailand and the U.S.
Ambassador Pisan lauded Congressman Castro’s leadership in setting up the Congressional Caucus on ASEAN, which would help foster closer relations between U.S. Congress and their counterparts in ASEAN.
Ambassador Pisan informed Congressman Castro, who is a co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on ASEAN, about the key role of Thailand in ASEAN since its establishment in Thailand in 1967. He also conveyed Thailand’s strong support for closer partnership between ASEAN and the U.S. Congressman Castro expressed his appreciation for Thailand’s active and constructive role in ASEAN.
Ambassador Pisan and Congressman Castro also discussed about the long-standing friendship between Thailand and the U.S., robust security cooperation and vibrant economic relations between the two countries. They agreed to work closely together to further this mutually beneficial relations.
