Ambassador Pisan and Congresswoman Grace Meng to empower Thai community in New York City; advance Thailand – U.S. alliance and partnership
Ambassador Pisan Manawapat met with Congresswoman Grace Meng to discuss about ways to empower Thai community living in New York City.
Ambassador Pisan congratulated Congresswoman Meng for being the first Asian American Member of Congress from New York State and the only Member of Congress of Asian descent in the entire Northeast. He believed that that Congresswomen Meng can be a source of inspiration for the Thai community as well as other Asian communities in New York and beyond.
The Thai Embassy has been encouraging Thai communities across the United States to participate more actively in the political processes at the local, state and national levels, said Ambassador Pisan adding that, through greater participation, they would be able to contribute more to the public services in the country.
Congresswoman Meng, whose district in Queens Borough is a home of a sizable Thai community, expressed her support for the effort to empower the Thai community in New York City and beyond.
Both also discussed about the long-lasting friendship and the importance of working together to advance the alliance and multi-dimensional partnership between Thailand and the United States.
