Team Thailand in Washington hosted Songkran Thai New Year Reception on the Capitol Hill

On April 4, 2017 Ambassador Pisan Manawapat and Team Thailand in Washington, D.C. hosted a reception on the Capitol Hill to celebrate the Songkran Thai New Year.
Over 200 friends of Thailand from the Capitol Hill, both the House of Representatives and the Senate, business sector, Think Tanks, and former Peace Corps joined the event.
The guests enjoyed Thai food and dessert especially the popular dishes—Pad Thai, Green Curry, and Mango with Sticky Rice, while the Thai musical instruments were performed by the two Thai teachers from Wat Thai Washington DC.
Songkran Thai New Year is the iconic holiday in Thailand when people return to their homes to pay respect to their elders and unite with their families. The world famous water festival takes place across Thailand during this holiday period which happens to be the hottest month of the year in Thailand.
