Thailand-U.S. held 6th Strategic Dialogue to strengthen alliance and advance cooperation

 

On July 14, 2017 Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand Busaya Mathelin co-chaired the 6th Thailand-U.S. Strategic Dialogue with Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Thornton in Washington, D.C.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of Thailand-U.S. alliance to peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region. They agreed to work closely together to address common challenges to regional and international peace and security.

Thailand and the U.S. would step up cooperation in all areas of common interest, such as defense cooperation, intelligence sharing, cyber security, maritime security, counter-terrorism and countering violent extremism. Both sides would also work together to expand two-way trade and investment that will benefit the peoples of both countries. Both sides would maintain close coordination through regular high-level dialogues.
