Ambassador Pisan hosted lunch for Dr. Joseph Felter, new Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia, to discuss strengthening Thailand-U.S. defense alliance
On 31 August 2017, Ambassador Pisan Manawapat hosted a lunch for Dr. Joseph Felter, who recently assumed the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia, at the Residence of the Thai Ambassador in Washington, D.C.
Both sides discussed the strategic importance of the defense alliance between Thailand and the United States which has greatly contributed to peace and security in the Asia-Pacific. They agreed to further strengthen this long-standing alliance in all areas of common interest, in particular regular high-level dialogue on issues of strategic importance, training and joint exercises to further increase friendship ad interoperability between Thai and American armed forces.
Joining Dr. Felter at the luncheon were senior officials from the Department of Defense and the National Security Council. From the Thai side were Mrs. Pattrawan Vechasart, Deputy Chief Mission, Thai military attaches to the U.S., and Thai Embassy officials.
