Senator Orrin Hatch, President Pro Tempore of U.S. Senate, presented Senate Resolution honoring His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha

On October 4, 2017, Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah, President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate, presented a copy of Senate Resolution honoring His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej to the visiting Prime Minister of Thailand.

During the meeting at the Office of the President Pro Tempore at the U.S. Capitol, Senator Hatch conveyed to the Thai Prime Minister his warm friendship toward the people of Thailand and his deep respect for His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away in October last year.

The Thai Prime Minister expressed his sincere appreciation on behalf of the people of Thailand to Senator Hatch for his leadership that led to the unanimous adoption of Senate Resolution Number 9 (S.Res.9) in March earlier this year.

When adopted, the resolution entitled “A Resolution honoring in praise and remembrance the extraordinary life, steady leadership, and remarkable, 70-year reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand” was warmly welcomed by the Thai people and generated a lot of goodwill among the Thai people toward their American friends.

The presentation was joined by Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado and Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, who have been strong supporters of Thailand-U.S. alliance and co-sponsors of this resolution. The Thai Prime Minister expressed his sincere appreciation to both senators for their friendship and support.
