You are invited to join as volunteer to help us plant 2,000 daffodils and a magnolia
at Wat Thai Washington DC on October 15, 2017, between 4 – 6 pm.
This volunteer activity is in remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol’s
boundless and gracious kindness and in conjunction with his passing last October.

The daffodil or “Dararat” in Thai was His Majesty King Bhumibol’s favorite flower and often presented to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit during their stay in Switzerland. Daffodil or Dararat is offered to loved ones as a symbol of honor, bravery and hope. Dara means star while Rat is a precious gem.  In past months, the Thai community in DC area intricately made  over 2,000 Dararat cremation flowers as a symbol of their unconditional love towards His Majesty and in remembering his seven-decade long reign and uncountable contributions. The Dararat cremation flowers will be offered to their beloved King during the cremation ceremony to be held at Wat Thai DC on October 26, allowing the Thai community to pay a final tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol.
