Hundred of volunteers join hands planting thousands of daffodils in remembrance the passing of His Majesty late King

On Sunday October 15, a hundred of volunteers from all folks of life in the D.C. area gathered at Wat Thai DC in Maryland to plant 2,999 daffodils and a Butterflies magnolia in remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol on the first anniversary of His passing.

Thais, mostly family, came to express their wishes to pay tribute to His Majesty late King, a staunch supporter of Thailand-Unitedl States relations, who reigned Thailand over seven decades till October 13, 2016.

The daffodils or “Dararat” in Thai was His Majesty King Bhumibol’s favorite flower and often presented to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit during their stay in Switzerland. Daffodil (Dararat) is offered to loved ones as a symbol of honor, bravery and hope.

For the past few months, the Thai community in DC area intricately made over 2,000 Dararat cremation flowers as a symbol of their unconditional love towards their beloved King, who is always in everyone’s heart.
