Thailand and the United States Advanced Economic Cooperation through TIFA

On April 10, 2018, Mrs. Nantawan Sakuntanaga, Permanent Secretary for Commerce, led the Thai delegation in meeting with Acting Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Southeast Asia and Pacific Affairs, Mr. Karl Ehlers, under Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) in Washington.
The two sides reaffirmed the importance of their longstanding partnership and economic cooperation. They addressed pending issues as well as discussed ways forward that will further expand trade and investment mutually beneficial to both countries. Both sides also touched upon broader regional economic engagement between the United States and the ASEAN region.
The Thai delegation comprised senior officials and experts from Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperatives, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Public Health, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
