Thailand – Washington National Guard Partnership Honored

On June 13, 2018, Ambassador Virachai Plasai and his spouse, together with representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy, attended a dinner reception hosted by U.S. Army Lieutenant General Daniel R. Hokanson, Vice Chair, U.S. National Guard Bureau, and his spouse at their residence in the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.

The event was held in honor of the partnership between Thailand and the Washington National Guard under the State Partnership Program of the National Guard Bureau. Among participants were U.S. Army Major General Bret D. Daugherty, Washington National Guard Adjutant General; U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Tom Cucchi, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command; representatives from the National Guard Bureau, the Department of Defense, the Office of Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Department of State.

At the event, Ambassador Virachai praised the strong and mutually beneficial partnership between the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the Washington National Guard, which started since the year 2002. This partnership has contributed to close friendship and interoperability between the two sides; thus, stronger Thailand – U.S. alliance that benefits peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Ambassador Virachai also conveyed his intention to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Thailand and the State of Washington in all areas of common interest.
