Message of appreciation by Prime Minister to the International and Home Rescue team

Dear Thai citizens,

On 23 June 2018, 12 members of the Moo Pa Academy Football Club and their assistant coach went missing and were presumed to be trapped inside Tham Luang Cave in Chiangrai Province. Since then, the Government has employed all available capabilities and resources for the search and rescue mission of this missing group. This effort, together with the tremendous sacrifices and assistance from the people, the private sector, both in Thailand and abroad, and the outpouring of moral support  from around the world, have made this 17 days mission a success.

In times of crisis, when Thai people are facing with hardship, His Majesty the King and the Royal Family have always expressed concern and closely observed the situation, and have graciously provided direct assistance to all officials involved, with constant encouragement and  guidance to the rescue mission. This is indeed a blessing for the Thai people.

On behalf of the Royal Thai Government, I would like to reiterate my sincerest gratitude for the determination and sacrifice of all involved in this mission, including individual volunteers, government officials, private companies, and the press, for their assistance in sharing their expertise, manpower, and equipment; and also to the people around the world for their moral support and prayers throughout this ordeal.

This mission has clearly shown us that with “Sati”, determination, unity, and sacrifice, we can overcome any obstacles.

Although the mission has been accomplished, images of people from all walks of life coming together to lend their helping hands, regardless of race or religious belief, will remain with all of us forever, especially the memory of Petty Officer First Class Saman Kunan, a former Thai Navy SEAL diver, who volunteered and lost his life during the mission. His honour, sacrifice and legacy will forever be in our hearts.

On this occasion, I would like to ask the blessings of all things sacred, together with the benevolence of His Majesty the King to bless all those who have been involved, Thai and foreign, with good health and happiness.
