Ambassador Virachai met corporate leaders at the Global Business @Meridian

On October 24, 2018, Ambassador Virachai Plasai was a featured guest speaker at the Global Business@Meridian series at Meridian International Center. Warmly greeted by Ambassador Stuart W. Holliday, President and CEO of Meridian International Center, Ambassador Virachai joined 25 corporate leaders in a discussion on Thai-U.S. relations.

Ambassador Virachai updated the business leaders on Thai-U.S. bilateral relations that are going strong in 2018 based on the two countries’ long-standing alliance. Thailand’s economic fundamentals, the government’s strong commitments to reform,  the upcoming democratic election, and the role that Thailand will be playing as ASEAN Chair are exciting opportunities for the U.S. businesses to deepen their trade and investment ties with the country in 2019. Confidence in the Thai economy has been reflected in the World Bank’s “Ease of Doing Business” 2018, which Thailand is ranked 26th, a surge of 20 ranks from the previous rating.
