Asian Identity : Contemporary Art Show in Washington (From now till January 4, 2019)
The Royal Thai Embassy in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center in Washington would like to invite you to visit a contemporary art show “Asian Identity”, an intercultural group show featuring photographic, video, sculpture, and mixed media works by artists Sarawut Chutiwongpeti (Thailand), Yuni Kim Lang (Korea) and Khánh H. Lê (Vietnam). Each artist’s evocative and deeply personal work expresses their unique identity as Asian, balancing formative experiences adapting to new environments with a desire to preserve one’s cultural heritage.
These artists investigate one’s cultural roots which is vital to understanding oneself, especially in an era where myriad world cultures coexist and globalization further blurs traditional lines of separation. Across widely varying media and modes of expression, the artists examine fundamental issues of identity and discuss their unique cultural states of being. Collectively, this exhibition aims to introduce the creative potential of contemporary artists of Asian heritage.
“Asian Identity” is on show at Korean Cultural Center in Washington, from December 7, 2018 to January 4, 2019 (except office holidays).
