Team Thailand in Washington, D.C. participated in a dignified transfer of the remains of Ambassador Virachai Plasai back to Thailand

On 1 April 2019, Ms. Boosara Kanchanalai, Chargé d’ Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy and members of the Team Thailand in Washington, D.C. participated a dignified transfer of the remains of His Excellency Virachai Plasai, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the United States of America, at the Dulles International Airport, Virginia.

Mrs. Elizabeth Plasai, spouse of Ambassador Virachai, took part in the ceremony and accompanied the remains of Ambassador Virachai on his final journey back to his beloved homeland.

Ambassador Sean Lawler, Chief of Protocol of the United States, and Mr. Patrick Murphy, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, represented the United States Government at the ceremony. Soldiers assigned to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) took part in the dignified transfer ceremony.

The remains of Ambassador Virachai is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok on 2 April 2019.
