ภาษาไทยDirector-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs presents Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship Priorities to Entities under Annex 2 of the ASEAN Charter
On 29 April 2019, Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Director-General, Department of ASEAN Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on behalf of Thailand’s Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) Leader, attended the 3rd Forum of Entities Associated with ASEAN at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.
As part of the Forum, Dr. Suriya joined H.E. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Political-Security Community, H.E. Dr. Aladdin D. Rillo, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community, and H.E. Mr. Kung Phoak, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community in highlighting ASEAN’s vision and priorities of ASEAN’s three pillars. In addition, Dr. Suriya briefed the meeting on Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship priorities in 2019 under the theme “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability” including concrete deliverables and initiatives during the first quarter of Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship.
Furthermore, the Forum discussed how the various entities can engage and work more closely with the ASEAN Sectoral Ministerial Bodies of the three pillars and the ASEAN Secretariat to further advance an ASEAN Community that is people-centred, leaves no one behind and looks to the future.
The Forum was hosted by the ASEAN Secretariat to strengthen the coordination of work with Entities listed under Annex 2 of the ASEAN Charter. The Forum was attended by around 50 Entities, representatives of Thailand’s SOM Leaders from the Political-Security Community, Economic Community and Socio-Cultural Community as the ASEAN Chair, and the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN.
