Capstone Presentation of Thai Embassy’s Embassy Adoption Program Class of 2018 -2019
On 5 June 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy welcomed 5th graders from Hyde-Addison Elementary School, the Embassy’s adopted EAP classroom, on their 4th activity presenting the capstone presentation of the Embassy Adoption Program (EAP) Academic Year 2018 – 2019.
The students gave a short presentation on what they have learned about Thailand over the course of the Embassy Adoption Program. They then performed a rendition of Thai dancing that they choreographed themselves.
Ms. Boosara Kanchanalai, Chargé d’Affaires, presented each student with a certificate congratulating them as a “Junior friend of Thailand”. Ms. Raynetta Wiggins from the Washington Performing Arts also attended. After the certificate presentation, Hyde-Addison’s teachers and students, WPA representative and the Embassy staff joined a buffet lunch of delicious Thai food.
The students of Hyde-Addison have interacted with the Royal Thai Embassy in various activities starting in January through June 2019, with the goal of learning more about facets of Thailand that include food, culture, religion, arts, and sports, among others. Over the course of the 2018-2019 school year, students learned to cook Thai food and desserts, enjoyed Thai kickboxing (Muay Thai) exercises, and visited Wat Thai Washington, D.C., a Buddhist Temple in Silver Spring, Maryland.
