Thai Golfer won inaugural team event at LPGA Tour in Michigan

Teammates Jasmine Suwannapura of Thailand and Cydney Clanton of the U.S. from Team “All In” won the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour’s first official team event at Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, Michigan during the past weekend.

Team All In carried a five-stroke lead to the final round and extended to six strokes by the end of the day before posting a runaway win at 27-under 253 at Midland Country Club last Saturday. Suwannapura and Clanton each bogeyed the first hole, then each had eight birdies.

“It’s pretty awesome,” Suwannapura said. “I couldn’t ask for a better partner.” Suwannapura won her second tour title, and Clanton her first. She also won the Marathon Classic last year.

“I couldn’t even dream up to have won a Symetra event earlier this year and then to come out and win with Jasmine,” Clanton commented. “It’s so funny, this is the tournament that I wanted to come and play in. I was like, ‘Team event, I’m in, let’s go.’ So, I’m blessed for the opportunity, I’m blessed that Jasmine came and let me come play with her.”

Thai sisters Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn tied for third at 20 under. They each shot 61 at the same event.

The LPGA is an American organization for female professional golfers. The organization is headquartered at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, and is best known for running the LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world.
