Ambassador Thani Thongphakdi presided over the Royal Decoration Presentation Ceremony to honor the Hon. Mr. Glyn T. Davies, Former Ambassador of the U.S. to the Kingdom of Thailand


On 5th September 2019, His Excellency Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the United States of America presided over the Royal Decoration Presentation Ceremony to honor the Honorable Mr. Glyn T. Davies, Former Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Thailand. On this occasion, Mrs. Jacqueline M. Davies, his spouse, his family as well as the Honorable Mr. Atul Keshap, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, U.S. Department of States and spouse and Ms. Susan Parker-Burns, Director of the Office of Mainland Southeast Asian Affairs also attended this event.

During his term in Thailand, the Honorable Ambassador Davies had played a vital role in promoting closer relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the United States of America in all dimensions, which included initiating and organizing the “Great and Good Friends: Historic Gifts between the Kingdom of Thailand and the United States of America, 1818-2018” Exhibition in 2018 in Bangkok to mark the bicentennial of the first recorded contact between Thailand (then Siam) and the United States of America, which was graciously inaugurated by His Majesty the King as well as his contribution to the search and rescue operation of the young footballers of the Moo Pa Academy and their coach at Tham Luang – Khun Nam Nang Non Cave, Chiang Rai Province.

After the ceremony, His Excellency Ambassador Thani Thongphakdi and Mrs. Noppanuch Thongphakdi hosted a congratulatory dinner in honor of the Honorable Mr. Glyn T. Davies and his family at the Thai Residence.
