Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C., supports local communities

Ambassador Manasvi led Team Thailand in the U.S. (Offices of Army, Navy, Air Force, Commerce, Finance, Agriculture, and Education) in joining volunteer activities inspired by the Royal Initiative Volunteer Projects to donate food in Maryland, as well as to show support and give thanks to frontline workers in Washington, D.C. during 29-30 April 2021, detail as follows:

(1)  A donation of more than 30 boxes of non-perishable food items, including those from the required list like bags of beans and canned tomatoes by Manna Food Center (distribute food in Montgomery County, Maryland), and partly culturally-appropriate food items imported from Thailand, such as jasmine rice, rice sticks, fish and chili sauce, and snacks. The Mayor of Montgomery County, the Center’s CEO and board members, representatives from local governments, and offices of senators in the area were among those welcomed and expressed their appreciation on site.

(2) A provision of 50 lunch bags, each comprised of a chicken wrap, a large bottle of coconut water, and a large box of custard snacks, to frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic at George Washington University Hospital. The hospital’s CEO, doctors, nurses, and health personnel were among those greeted and showed their gratefulness on site.
