Conde Nast Traveler readers rank Thailand high

Even when there are travel measures entering Thailand due to the COVID-19 pandemic, tourists still love the Kingdom. Conde Nast Traveler readers ranked the city of Bangkok and two Thai island resorts among the world’s top ten in the magazine’s 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards.
The rankings were all the more surprising because Thailand has imposed travel measures to international visitors for most of this year as part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. Gradually this year, certain areas have been reopened to limited numbers of tourists started with a “sandbox” model with strict controls.
The sandbox has proven successful and been extended to more and more destinations. The government has said that it intends to reopen the country to vaccinated tourists from countries with lower contagious risks in November should all go according to plan.
Despite not being able to plan a visit to Bangkok that easy this year, readers in the Conde Nast Traveler poll named Bangkok as the ninth “Best Big City” as part of the magazine’s 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards.
That magazine said that Bangkok is “consistently ranked as one of the most-visited cities in the world” where visitors could experience “a multifaceted identity that blends history, culture, street style, and luxury like nowhere else.”
Three Thai islands made the top 10 in the “Top Islands” category. Samui came in at number seven with a score of 93.33, Phi Phi Islands finished at number nine with a score of 91.83, and Phuket was number 10 with a score of 89.79.
Another impressive finish belonged to Chiva-Som in Hua Hin, which was named Number one among 50 spa resorts worldwide that filled the ranks of the list of ‘The Best Spa Resorts in the U.S. & Around the World.’
