Royal Thai Embassy’s First Classroom Visit the Embassy Adoption Program’s Partner School during academic year 2021-2022

On 16 November 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C., visited Garrison Elementary School to meet with Ms. Janna Huynh’s 5th Grade Class, which is the Thai Embassy’s partner classroom for the 2021-2022 school year in cooperation with the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and the Washington Performing Arts (WPA) under the Embassy Adoption Program (EAP).

All 14 students in the class enjoyed learning about many different aspects of Thailand, including climate, food, fruits and vegetables, lifestyle, and some Thai-language words. The students were enthusiastically inquisitive, filling the classroom with thoughtful questions and observations on diverse aspects of Thai cultures they were most interested in. To enhance their hands-on experience, the class also had an opportunity to try sun-dried banana snacks and fruit-flavored jellies, both of which are products of Thailand. The students were very excited and inspired to learn about Thailand and said that they would like to travel to Thailand in the future.

The meeting was the first of four meetings the Embassy scheduled with this class throughout the 2020-2021 academic year. Established in 1974, the Embassy Adoption Program (EAP) seeks to expose DC Public School students to global awareness through direct interactions with foreign embassies in Washington, D.C.
