Royal Thai Embassy’s 2nd Classroom Visit to the Embassy Adoption Program’s Partner School of the 2021-2022 Academic Year
The Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C., visited Ms. Janna Huynh’s 5th grade class at Garrison Elementary School for the second time on 25 January 2022 under the Embassy Adoption Program (EAP). This time, the Embassy’s representatives enjoyed teaching students to write their names in Thai alphabets before sharing samples of Thailand’s tropical fruits, savory snack and food with the students.
The students were handed prepared tags written their names in Thai along with blank tote bags. They enthusiastically copied the writing on the bags and draw around to decorate them using colorful markers creatively. After that, they were introduced to try fresh dragon fruits and canned rambutans and longans. Both students and teachers were thrilled to experience new tastes and textures. For light lunch, students were given Thai-styled deep-fried chicken wontons and Pad Thai; the latter being one of the most popular Thai dishes in the world
The EAP seeks to expose D.C. Public School students to global awareness through direct interactions with foreign embassies in Washington, D.C. Four activities would be planned throughout each academic year to provide students with information and hands-on experience about the partnered country.
