7NewsDC - Thai Restaurant Week Interview

Much appreciation to the 7News DC Mornings crews for reaching out to us with your interest in our Thai food event organized by the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C, “It’s Spring, Let’s EAT THAI” 2022, to support local Thai businesses in D.C., Maryland and Virginia (DMV area).

We aim to make this Thai Restaurant Week on D.C.’s annual calendar. This year it has returned to take place during Thai New Year “Songkran” week between April 9 and 17, inviting everyone to visit over 60 local Thai restaurants across the DMV, where most decorate the ambience accordingly and some even offer special “Songkran” menus. This means that there are hundreds of creative Thai food dishes for customers to experience and enjoy over the week.

For example, in D.C., you will find menus like ‘SAKU SAI MOO,’ which is one of the oldest hors d’oeuvres, since King Rama I and has became one of the most popular appetisers in Thailand, and desserts like ‘KHANOM KROK’ (hot coconut rice cakes with variety of traditional toppings options). In MD, a lunch bowl is  of various Thai food options is served with Thai iced tea for a set menu. Many restaurants in VA also offer traditional Thai snacks like ‘MIANG KHAM’ (leaf-wrapped salad bites) and Thai desserts like ‘KANAM TUAY’ (steamed coconut milk pudding). There are many more special dishes to whet your appetite and it is highly recommended for you to try it out for yourself during this Thai Restaurant Week:

“It’s Spring, Let’s Eat THAI” campaign also invites you all to share your favourite Thai dishes and experience in our social media platform to win a FREE ticket to Thailand and many more prizes like restaurant gift cards, Thai product baskets, Thai garments & crafts. Just take a photo of your Thai dishes, post them on your Facebook or Instagram and TAG @eatthaidmv. The more likes and views on your posts (preferably posts and reels since stories only last 24 hour and we cannot see the likes), the more chance to win.

Special thanks to friends in the DMV who have shared their Thai food pictures and clips with us so far. Let’s continue to celebrate and enjoy Thai food for a chance to win prizes! 5 more days to go!!
