Thai Water Festival in Frederick 2022

On 4 June 2022, Ambassador Manasvi Srisodapol joined the Mayor of Frederick to preside over the Opening Ceremony of the 3rd Thai Water Festival in Frederick, Maryland. The event was organized by a leading Thai restaurant owner in the city in collaboration with the Asian American Center of Frederick (AACF).

Ambassador Manasvi delivered a welcoming remarks with Mr. Michael O’Conner, Mayor of Frederick, Ms. Elizabeth Chung, Executive Director of the Asian American Center of Frederick, Ms. Kara Norman, Executive Director of Downtown Frederick, and Mr. Jittisak Phakham, owner of Sumittra restaurant group.

During the festival, Ambassador Manasvi also brought with him his Residence’s head chef to demonstrate how to cook “Som Tum,” the famous Thai papaya salad. The event is aimed to be organized annually for local communities and interested passersby in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. A diverse of activities in the festival includes Thai kick-boxing (Muay Thai) show, Thai contemporary music by Todd Tongdee’s band (an American who has been in Thailand for the past 30 years), water fights as well as many Thai food stalls.
