Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s 90th Birthday Anniversary Celebration

On 11 August 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy hosted a reception “Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s 90th Birthday Anniversary Celebration” at The Ritz-Carlton Washington D.C. chaired by the Ambassador of Thailand to the United States of America (Mr. Manasvi Srisodapol). The Honorable Daniel J. Kritenbrink, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the United States Department of State and Ambassador Esther Coopersmith presided over as the guests of honor from the U.S. side. There are also high ranking delegations from public and private sectors and civil society, as well as the ambassadors in Washington D.C., including Thai and U.S. medias and the representatives from Thai Clubs in Washington D.C. and the vicinities joining.

The reception was under the project so-called “Thailand Promotion and Thai Advocacy in the U.S.” which there are exhibition on Thai Silk in relation to the history of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s visits to the U.S. and her great works for the reviving and conservation of  Thai textiles, the music and Thai dance performance and the vegetable and fruits carving demonstration as well as many Thai food and desserts. This is to advocate Thai and to promote Thai food and tourism, Thai silk and the culture as well as to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s 90th birthday and to promote her invaluable works for the country to the wide groups of audiences, to increase people-to-people relations, to strengthen the ties in Thai communities and the good relations among Friends of Thailand from various sectors in Washington D.C. and the vicinities who are the leaders and being influenced on political views and decision making of the U.S.

During the opening session, Ambassador Manasvi gave the welcome speech about Thai-U.S. relations which is very close and longstanding through 190 years and also about the works of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother which has helped in the promotion of Thai-U.S. bilateral relations. Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary Daniel J. Kritenbrink gave a remarks about Thai-U.S. cooperation in many aspects before the Ambassador Esther Coopersmith came to join the Toast in Celebration of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s 90th Birthday Anniversary.

Apart from those nearly 300 people from many sectors in D.C. and its vicinities have participated in the event, Mr. Fabio Chinda, Consul-General of Thailand in New York and spouse have kindly brought the Thai local-wisdom technician for vegetable and fruit carving to demonstrate in. The Ambassador Chef demonstrated Thai food (Somtum) at the food station and Wat Thai Washington, D.C. has generously provided Thai performers (Kinnaree Dance, Xylophone Battle, Blessing Dance) and musicians to show Thai music and performances as well as the Thai Clubs had their representatives to do a fashion show in Thai textiles that can wear in many occasions.

Moreover, there is a decorated table for participants to sign on a blessing book for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s 90th Birthday Anniversary during the event alongside the exhibition area that shows biography of her majesty, the history of her visits to the U.S. and her works for the nation and the SUPPORT Foundation on promoting Thai Textiles to the wider groups of audiences both in Thailand and abroad through various projects that help creating jobs, incomes and knowledge which is a Thai culture heritage and are for the standard of living of Thai citizens and their quality of lives. The exhibition showed the gratefulness to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on her devotion for people and her global recognition from a number of awards that were accorded to Her Majesty to honor and recognize these great humanitarian accomplishments.
