Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., visited Iowa to expand Thai-U.S. agricultural cooperation

On September 28 – 30, 2022, Ms. Chuliepote Isarankura Na Ayudhaya, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., together with Mr. Thitiwat Sukhasvasti Na Ayudhya, Counsellor and Ms. Kasama Phasuktam, economic officer, paid a visit to Iowa to meet with state representatives and private sectors from the IOWA agricultural sector in order to expand research and development, trade and investment cooperation in agricultural innovation as well as smart farming.

On this occasion, Ms. Isarankura and her team met with representatives from Iowa, including Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) to discuss ways to promote agricultural cooperation between Thailand and Iowa including agricultural science and technology and exchanges of professionals, especially on the occasion of 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the U.S. next year. The team also visited Lely North America, Inc. company, a leading supplier of robotics and data management for the dairy farm and Corteva Agriscience company, a producer and innovator of seeds and crop protection products.

Iowa is one of the leading states in agriculture in the U.S. It is the largest producer and exporter of corn and pork in the U.S. and the second largest agricultural producer in the U.S., after California.
