Netflix launches Thailand travel guide

Thailand has long been known in Hollywood as a great location to shoot films. Now, Netflix is launching “Uncover Thailand: A Creative Travel Guide,” a website that gives viewers in-depth information on Thai locations featured in Netflix shows and films.

For Netflix fans who are wondering where those stunning and exotic places seen in films or television shows are, they can now find the answer if that location is in the Kingdom. With the answers, come a wealth of detailed information about each place and how to visit, should they so choose.

The website is a partnership between Netflix and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, and the Creative Economy Agency. It represents a visionary approach to travel and tourism marketing, as well as a new and imaginative way to promote the country’s image and knowledge about Thailand.

It may also be very useful for visitors seeking off-the-beaten-path destinations, as film and television producers often choose settings outside of the major tourist spots in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and other popular places. For instance, locations include Chonburi province, which was featured in the third season of Money Heist, and Chumphon province along the coast of the Andaman Sea, which was featured in The Stranded.

It is not just locations that are highlighted. Netflix fans can also search for specific experiences and attractions in the “Travel Guide” page’s extensive list. Among those featured are watching a boxing match at Ransgit Stadium, a key location in Hurts Like Hell, and a walk through “Little India” in the capital Bangkok to sample what was shown in Street Food Asia.
