Ambassador Tanee meets Miami-Dade County International Trade Consortium
On March 6, 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat, Mr. Chavanol Phivnil, Director of Thai Trade Center in Miami, and Ms. Maria D. Sariol, Honorary Consul-General in Coral Gables met executives from the International Trade Consortium (ITC) of Miami-Dade County, led by Executive Director Maria Dreyfus-Ulvert and representatives from key economic agencies in Miami, including Enterprise Florida, Miami International Airport and Miami Dade Beacon Council.
Ambassador Tanee gave a briefing on Thailand’s economic performance and outlook, particularly on trade, investment and tourism as well as Thailand-Florida trade and investment cooperation. He underscored that Florida is one of the states with the largest Thai Investment, including Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) and Thai Union. He also pointed out that Thailand and Florida have great potentials for collaboration on life sciences, clean technology and information technology. In addition, Ambassador Tanee discussed the embassy’s plans to organize a series of activities to celebrate 190th anniversary of Thai-U.S. diplomatic relations and invited the ITC to take part in this special occasion.
Representatives from the ITC highlighted that Florida has a GDP of over $1 trillion, 4th in the U.S.,and is the 3rd most populous city in the U.S. Miami is also the fastest growing tech hub and has the highest percentage of tech job creation in the U.S. Miami is home to the Miami International Airport which receives the most international arrivals and the largest number of imported goods in the U.S. The Port of Miami is also the largest cargo port in the U.S. and the largest cruise port in the world.
