Royal Thai Embassy’s Mobile Consular Service at Wat Buddhabucha, Decater Georgia

On 31 March – 2 April 2023, a consular team from the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington DC, led by Consul Sart Chaivoraphorn, organized a mobile consular service at Wat Buddhabucha in Decater, Georgia. The team provided services in renewing passports and ID cards as well as providing information and advices on other consular matters for Thai people living in Decater and nearby areas such as Atlanta, Augusta, Athens, Dallas, and other neighboring states such as Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The team catered special services for those aged 70 and over on 31 March to facilitate seniors who may find it inconvenient to make online appointment in advance.

This 3-day mobile consular service attracted a large number of Thai people, who were impressed with the service as it has been 3 years since the last service by the Embassy in Atlanta. The Embassy’s consular team was able to provide services for more than 600 people, comprising renewal of 413 passports and 179 ID cards, and 30 other consular consultations.

Consul Sart took this opportunity to inform and provide information on the upcoming overseas election in the U.S. The consular team also set up service desk for voting registration, in which more than 60 people registered and about 20 people inquired more details on the voting process.
