Ambassador to the US consults USABC member companies based in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
On 3 April 2023, Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the U.S. briefs representatives of 50 US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) member companies, who are based in Thailand and Southeast Asia. The delegation was led by Ambassador Ted Osius (ret.), President and CEO of the USABC.
Ambassador Tanee briefed Thailand’s economic performance and outlook including trade, investment and tourism. He stressed the importance of the U.S. as one of the most important Thailand’s trade and investment partners as well as one of the most crucial overseas investment destinations for Thailand. Ambassador Tanee extended his invitation to U.S. companies to help drive investments in sectors which have high potential for further growth including digital technology, biotechnology, smart logistics, clean energy and BCG-related industries, especially in the areas of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Ambassador Tanee invited U.S. companies to take part in a number of activities organized by the Embassy to commemorate the 190th anniversary of Thailand and the U.S. diplomatic relations including the SawasdeeDC Thai Festival in Washington D.C. in July and seminars on economic and people-people relations between both countries.
Ambassador Tanee also emphasized Thailand’s desire to work closely with U.S. companies in implementing the Bangkok Goals on BCG Economy which is one of the deliverables during Thailand APEC host year as well as his desire to promote innovation and technology through startups from Thailand to gain access to investment and collaboration in the U.S.
