Thailand chosen to be host of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
Thailand has been chosen by the Boards of Governors of the WBG and the IMF to hold the 2026 Annual Meetings in Bangkok.
The Annual Meetings are among the most important meetings of the WBG and the IMF, which discuss important and pressing issues facing the global economy. The Meetings are usually held for two consecutive years at the WBG and IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C. and every third year in one of the institutions’ member countries. The upcoming 2023 Annual Meetings will take place this October in Marrakech, Morocco.
It is expected that the meetings will attract more than 14,000 participants from all over the world including ministers, central bankers, private sector leaders, media, and academia. The last time the Annual Meetings were held in Bangkok was in 1991 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, which has been completely renovated and chosen as the venue for APEC Economic Leaders Meeting in 2022.
