Ambassador of Thailand joins hands with Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) to strengthen the Thai community in Little Thai Way, Queens, New York

On 26 April 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat met with Rep. Grace Meng, whose congressional district in Queens, New York includes the Little Thailand Way neighborhood. The two sides discussed various issues including the commemoration of the 190th Anniversary of Thai-US diplomatic relations in 2023, the formation of the US-Thai Alliance Caucus, and the Indo-Pacific region.

The Little Thailand Way neighborhood was established with the support of the New York City Council. The street naming ceremony took place in September 2022, and Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Ambassador Tanee was in attendance. The neighborhood features Thai restaurants, shops, massage shops, residential areas, and temples. New York City has the second largest Thai community in the US after Los Angeles, while Queens has the most populous Thai community in New York.
