Thailand will host Asia electric vehicle summit

Thailand will host an electric vehicles (EV) business summit in Bangkok this summer with over 300 global executives expected to attend and map out the road ahead for an industry transforming mobility and economies around the world.
The Asia EV Technology Summit Thailand 2023 will take place on 5 July in Bangkok with the theme “Plugging into the future with EV mobility.” Organizers said that the event will examine the latest trends, innovations, technologies, and solutions in EV investment, design, engineering, EV technology, battery innovation, charging stations, and readiness for EV transition.
Escom Events, which is organizing the summit, added that “we are seeing over 20 innovative EV projects that are set to revolutionize the way we travel and make Thailand the EV Transition Hub in Southeast Asia.”
The Nikkei Asia Review recently cited Thailand as an increasingly important link in the global supply chain for electric vehicle manufacturing. The Kingdom, known as “the Detroit of Asia” due to its extensive auto manufacturing and assembly sector, is in the midst of an EV evolution. Thailand was ranked the tenth-largest auto manufacturer in the world in 2021.
The Royal Thai Government has made advanced automotive technology a priority sector and European, Japanese, Chinese and some American firms are already investing in EV production in the Kingdom. More are expected to follow.
Global business analysis firm KPMG said that Thailand’s shift towards EV production “is being driven by the strong will of all stakeholders – the government, corporates, and consumers. Thailand has developed a favorably evolving policy environment to provide the right push to the EV market and accelerate the development of EV production and related value chain.”
