Ambassador of Thailand reaffirms continued alliance and partnership with the US under new administration

On 6 June 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat gave a special interview to the Washington Diplomat as part of the Ambassador Insider Series column on Thailand, at the LINE DC hotel in Washington, D.C. This event attracted more than 150 people comprising representatives from both public and private sectors, diplomatic corps and international organizations, intellectuals, and civil society organizations.

Ambassador Tanee briefed about the enduring relationship between Thailand and the US, which commemorates 190 years of diplomatic relations this year.  Afterward, he explained about the post-election political development while emphasizing Thailand’s constructive roles in the region and on the global stage by utilizing various means including the soft power. He particularly emphasized the continuation of alliance and partnership between the two countries under the new administration. The Ambassador also shared his views on regional development and geopolitical challenges among major powers.

On this occasion, the Ambassador promoted the “Sawasdee DC’ Thai Festival, which would take place on 2 July 2023 at the National Mall and invited everyone to join in celebrating the long-standing relationship between Thailand and the US for 190 years.
