Ambassador Tanee advances cooperation with the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA)
On 5 July 2023, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat met with Ms. Enoh T. Ebong, Director of USTDA, to discuss further cooperation between Thailand and USTDA.
The Ambassador emphasized new areas of possible cooperation including water management, air pollution management, digital economy development, accessibility to technology and innovation by certain MSMEs and marginalized groups, and electric rail system development in major cities of Thailand. In addition, he underscored the need for trilateral cooperation, particularly in the Mekong sub-region. Director Ebong welcomed the initiatives and stood ready to foster existing strong ties with Thailand.
USTDA first rendered assistance to Thailand in 1981 and had since invested there more than in any other Southeast Asian countries. To date, 135 projects to support infrastructure development and various forms of capacity building have been implemented in Thailand. These encompass areas such as climate, ICT and smart city, transportation, healthcare, and public administration.
